MicrosoftのHyper-Vですが、製品としての出来どうこうはおいておいて、やはり仮想化のためのファイルシステムが伴っていないところが課題だと思っています。VMware ESXにおけるVMFSのようにファイル単位でロックが機能するような機能を持ち、ファイルシステムレベルでは同時アクセスを可能とするような仕組みをもった仮想化向けのファイルシステムです。
で、やはりMicrosoftもその点は認識しているようで、どうやらWinHECにてWindows Server 2008 R2に搭載される予定とされるCSV (Cluster Shared Volumes)のセッションがあります。

CSV is an enhancement that allows multiple virtual hard disk (VHD) images to be mounted on a single logical volume. "CSV is an enhancement that allows multiple virtual hard disk (VHD) images to be mounted on a single logical volume."とありますし、仮想マシンのマイグレーションに用いることができるようなので、完全に仮想マシン配置用のボリュームのようです。おそらくCSVの登場とともに、VMotionのようなライブマイグレーション機能が提供されるようになるのでしょう。
MicrosoftはNTFSに縛られすぎのような気がしています。ファイルシステムも用途毎に選択するような柔軟性ができてくると、Windowsもなかなか面白い発展をしていきそうに思えるのですけれども。
